How to make a custom crosshair in CS2
A CS2 crosshair is a handful of numbers: style, length, thickness, gap, colour and outline. This crosshair maker sets them with sliders and draws the result at the size it will be in game, so there’s no guessing in the console.
- Pick a starting pointA pro’s crosshair from the buttons above, a code from the crosshair code library, or the default small green cross.
- Set the shapeStatic Cross never moves, which is why 36 of the 37 pros on CrosshairGen use it. 36 of them use lines 4 px long or shorter, and 31 use a 1–2 px gap.
- Pick a colour you can seeGreen and cyan stand out on most maps: 19 of the pros here play green and 12 cyan. Add an outline if the crosshair disappears on bright walls.
- Check it at real sizeThe preview uses your monitor and resolution, 4:3 stretched included. Click it to fire a burst and see how the crosshair sits on a target.
- Copy and importCopy the share code and paste it in CS2 under Settings → Crosshair/Scopes → Share or Import, or paste the console command after pressing ~.
Coming from a CS:GO crosshair generator?
CS2 replaced CS:GO in 2023, and the September 2026 update changed how crosshairs are stored, so commands like cl_crosshairsize from an old CS:GO crosshair generator no longer work. Paste your old CSGO- code or cl_crosshair lines into the box at the top and they’re converted pixel for pixel, or use the crosshair migrator.
Make a dot crosshair
Set Style to Dot Only and pick the dot size with Thickness; 3–4 px is easy to see at 1080p. Turn on Outline for bright maps. To add a dot to a cross instead, switch on Center dot. Ready-made ones are in the dot crosshair codes.
Copy and paste a crosshair
Every crosshair here is a code you can copy and paste. In CS2 open Settings → Crosshair/Scopes → Share or Import and paste it, or press ~ and paste the console command. Copy share link gives you a URL that opens this exact crosshair.
How to apply
Put the new crosshair in game
Pick one of three ways. Importing the new code takes ten seconds; the console and autoexec are there if you like configs.
Option 1: Import the new code
RecommendedCarries every setting and your resolution, and rescales if you change resolution later.
- Open crosshair settingsLaunch CS2, click the gear at the top left to open Settings, then the Crosshair/Scopes tab.
- Click “Share or Import”It sits at the top right of the crosshair settings.
- Paste and importClick “Copy new code” on this page, paste it into the box in game (Ctrl+V) and click Import. Check the preview and you’re done.
Option 2: Console command
Handy if importing doesn’t suit you, or you want to see every value.
- Enable the consoleIn Settings → Game, set Enable Developer Console (~) to Yes.
- Paste and press EnterJoin a game at your usual resolution, press ~, paste the copied command and press Enter. The leading
cl_crosshair_screen_heightrecords your resolution.
Option 3: autoexec.cfg
Applies the crosshair every time the game starts, so a reset can’t lose it.
- Drop it in the cfg folderClick “Download autoexec” and put the file in
Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg\. Already have an autoexec.cfg? Copy the crosshair lines into it instead. - Add a launch optionIn your Steam library, right-click Counter-Strike 2 → Properties → Launch Options and add
+exec autoexec.
FAQ
Questions
How do I make a CS2 crosshair?
Drag the sliders under Crosshair settings and watch the preview, which shows the crosshair at actual size for the resolution you picked. When it looks right, copy the share code and import it in CS2 under Settings → Crosshair/Scopes → Share or Import.
Can I edit an existing crosshair code?
Yes. Paste any CS2 code (starts with CS) or an old CSGO- code into the box at the top. It is loaded into the sliders, and the code updates as you change them.
Why does the resolution matter?
CS2 crosshair sizes are pixels at the screen height stored in the code. The generator works in pixels at your resolution and stores it, so CS2 draws what you see here and rescales it if you change resolution.
Which crosshair do pros use?
36 of the 37 pros on CrosshairGen use a small static cross with no outline. Pick one with the buttons above or browse all pro crosshairs.
Is this a CS:GO crosshair generator?
It makes crosshairs for CS2, which replaced CS:GO. It also reads old CS:GO crosshair codes (CSGO-…) and old cl_crosshair commands and converts them, so a crosshair you made in a CS:GO crosshair generator still works.
How do I make a dot crosshair in CS2?
Set Style to Dot Only, choose the dot size with Thickness (3–4 px is easy to see at 1080p), turn on Outline if you play bright maps, then copy the code. Or switch on Center dot to add a dot to a cross.
Can I copy and paste the crosshair code?
Yes. Copy code puts the share code on your clipboard; paste it in CS2 under Settings → Crosshair/Scopes → Share or Import. Copy command gives console commands to paste after pressing ~.

CrosshairGen is free, has no ads and collects nothing. Every time CS2 changes the crosshair, it gets updated. A coffee is what keeps that going.
